Organic ingredients are significantly more expensive than conventional ingredients and are more difficult to find within the framework set by children's food legislation. So why have we chosen to make all Muru Baby products organic?
Children's food legislation itself ensures that children's food is extremely clean and of high quality. For us, however, eating is part of a larger whole. When children learn from an early age that genuinely good taste, naturalness, safety, and responsibility often go hand in hand, it becomes easier for them to make good food choices as they grow up.
ORGANIC = SAFE FOOD
The purity of organic food stems from two sources: the minimal use of pesticides and additives. Organic food consumers are also not exposed to unnecessary antibiotics through their food, as organic animals are not given antibiotics for disease prevention, but only on a limited basis for the treatment of diseases.
In recent years, it has become apparent that many substances in our food and environment affect human health only after a long delay, perhaps even in subsequent generations.
According to Pro Luomu, for example, limits considered safe have been set for pesticide residues in food, which foodstuffs must not exceed. These limits are even stricter for children's food. However, consumers are exposed to small permitted residue levels throughout their lives. The combined effects of several pesticides on human health are not yet known.
The use of pesticides is restricted in organic production: only a few substances may be used to combat diseases and pests, and weed killers are completely prohibited. The absence of pesticides also benefits the fauna of fields and meadows, such as pollinating insects and small birds.
ORGANIC = AUTHENTIC FLAVORS
Due to the purity of organic food, natural nutrition, and natural growth rhythms, the raw ingredients develop their authentic and pure flavors. Just as nature intended for its little ones. Children deserve food that is at least as good and high-quality as what we adults would choose for ourselves.
WELFARE OF ORGANIC ANIMALS VS. CONVENTIONAL PRODUCTION
In organic production, animal welfare means, for example, that animals are allowed to behave in accordance with their species and are fed naturally produced, non-genetically modified food. Muru Baby meals containing meat or poultry also include a wide variety of vegetables. If meat/poultry is offered as part of everyday meals, we believe it is extremely important to consider where it comes from, how the animal was raised, how often it is served, and in what quantities. Even small changes can help us shift our consumption towards a more sustainable direction.
THE ENVIRONMENT THANKS YOU
The most important and clearest environmental impact of organic production is the preservation of biodiversity. In addition, organic fields bind large amounts of carbon, which may be significant in combating climate change. At Muru Baby, it is important to us that future generations also have the opportunity to enjoy diverse nature and admire the buzzing insects, thus enabling future generations to enjoy safe, clean, tasty, and responsibly produced food.
Organic baby food is slightly more expensive than conventional baby food for the reasons mentioned above. However, compared to conventional "adult" foods, the price difference is relatively small.
